It's almost August, so I'm homesick. No trip back to Detroit for the Woodward Cruise again this summer (even though by some freakish occurrence I have the same week off both jobs) and it's killing me a little bit.
Hanging out at night a week beforehand for the unofficial part, which is always more fun than the Saturday Of. Walking from State Fair to Roseland Park cemetery with my best girlfriend Lita, inhaling the exhaust fumes and listening to her tease me for being a boy about cars. And having her tell random strangers 'This is like porn for her - she's chromesexual'. I miss my evil friend - there is no substitution for her special brand of it.
And the traditional White Castle frenzy - My record is at 14 double cheese.
Next year, though. Next year for sure.
